No. 8 SWM International Inc. Chevrolet Silverado

This Week’s SWM-NEMCO Motorsports’ Chevrolet Silverado at Atlanta Motor Speedway … Joe Nemechek will pilot Chassis No. 039 in the Hyundai Construction Equipment 200 at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. The Gere Kennon-led team unloaded this chassis twice during the 2014 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season, at both Texas Motor Speedway and at the Homestead-Miami (Fla.) Speedway. On November 14, 2014 at Homestead-Miami Speedway, the NEMCO Motorsports prepared chassis qualified 14th and finished in eighth position.

Georgia on my Mind … This weekend marks Nemechek’s second Atlanta Motor Speedway appearance with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. In 2006, driving for David Dollar, Nemechek finished in 35th-place after being involved in an incident. The Lakeland, Fla., driver has earned an average starting position of 7.0 and an average finishing position of 35.0 at the 1.5-mile track. In addition, the 1992 NASCAR XFINITY Series champion has one win (2001), two top-five and six top-10 finishes in the NASCAR XFINITY Series in 15 starts at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Nemechek also has 38 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series starts which include a second-place finish in 2002.

Speedway Stats: In 13 combined NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts on speedways (tracks 1 to 2-mile in length), Nemechek has recorded one top-five and 8 top-10s. He has led for a total of 41 laps on NASCAR’s speedway tracks.

Substitute … Joe Nemechek will drive the No. 34 Ford for Front Row Motorsports in this weekend’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Nemechek takes over for David Ragan, who has joined Joe Gibbs Racing as the interim driver of the No. 18 Toyota for the injured Kyle Busch.

Georgia Peach … Atlanta Motor Speedway is a homecoming to communications director Courtney McGarry. Raised in Hampton, she grew-up around the local short-tracks and developed a lifelong passion for motorsports which started at the 1/4-Mile “Thunder Ring” at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Engineer Steve Gray hails from Rome, and is a former NASCAR driver with eight starts in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.

Race Rewind: Daytona International Speedway … Despite incurring damage to the No. 8 D.A.B. Constructors Inc. / SWM International Inc. Chevrolet Silverado during an accident on Lap 15 on February 20 at Daytona International Speedway, Joe Nemechek and the Gere Kennon-led NEMCO Motorsports team secured a top-20 finish in the Nextera Energy Resources 250 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event.

In the Rearview Mirror: 2014 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Season … Joe Nemechek wheeled the SWM-NEMCO Motorsports No. 8 in 12 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races in 2014, including a third-place finish at Texas Motor Speedway in June. Nemechek’s starts in 2014 earned him an average starting position of 14.8 and an average finish of 9.8.

Joe Nemechek QUOTE (ON Atlanta Motor Speedway.):

“We are definitely looking forward to Atlanta (Motor Speedway) after a tough weekend at Daytona International Speedway.

“Atlanta is more about handling and aerodynamics, but more about handling because the asphalt is worn-out. Your truck has to have good aerodynamics as far as good downforce, side-force, and getting that package together will be key. I feel like we are on a more even ground going to Atlanta only because the trucks have not been there in a few years. Hopefully, that will put us on a more level playing field with the teams that are normally at the front.”

(On driving the No. 34 Ford for Front Row Motorsports)

“It is great to be back in a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series car at Atlanta Motor Speedway. I have never worked with Front Row Motorsports, but I know David Ragan and the rest of the guys have run well. I have worked with Derrick Finley before, who is the crew chief on this car, as he used to work for me as my lead engineer. I am looking for very good things this weekend.”
