#87 Team Readies for the Veteran Driver’s Milestone in History
Some jobs can be tedious and repetitious but when Joe Nemechek goes to work for the 1000th time, it is anything but boring.
NEMCO Motorsports today announced that Joe Nemechek will be making his 1000th race start this weekend in Richmond, VA, if he qualifies for the Federated Auto Parts 400 Sprint Cup race.
Nemechek is in good company, joining legends Ricky Rudd, Jeff Burton, Richard Petty and a select few who have made major milestones in NASCAR starts. Nemechek will log 1,000 starts including his Sprint, Nationwide and Truck racing starts. This Friday’s Nationwide Race for the Virginia 529 College Savings 250 will be his 999th start.
When the NEMCO car sets out to qualify and run the 1000th race, AM FM Energy will be aboard as the primary sponsor. AM FM specializes in complete energy savings solutions with a variety of notable products such as their high quality line of Timber Ridge wood and pellet stoves. AM FM recently has added BBQ grills and tailgating accessories to their product line. The company can ship orders direct. Founded by Andy Mays (the ‘AM’ of AM FM Energy) and his wife Faye Mays (the ‘FM’ of AM FM Energy), the company’s goal is to increase awareness of the benefits of their multi fuel, wood and pellet stove product line.
NEMCO Motorsports was founded in 1990 to start Joe Nemechek's NASCAR Busch Series racing program. Joe ran his first full season in the NASCAR Busch Series in 1990, capturing Rookie of the Year honors. Just two years later, Joe won the 1992 NASCAR Busch Series Championship title. Joe was voted NASCAR Busch Series Most Popular Driver in 1992 and 1993. Joe is known throughout racing as "Front Row Joe" for his 28 pole starting positions, 20 wins and 183 Top-10 finishes in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and NASCAR Nationwide Series.
NEMCO Motorsports is a family operation, where Joe's family is an integral part of the management. His son, 15 year old John Hunter Nemechek is making a mark as an up and coming driver to watch. John Hunter is named after Joe’s brother, John Nemechek, notable NASCAR truck series driver.
Today, NEMCO is fielding cars in both the NASCAR Sprint Cup and NASCAR Nationwide Series. To date, NEMCO Motorsports has more than 28 NASCAR wins. Joe began his racing career at age 13 in motocross racing. He won more than 300 events before turning to stock cars in the 1980s. BILL ELLIOTT TO DRIVE THE #97 TOYOTA FOR
NEMCO MOTORSPORTS FOR THE DAYTONA 500
Daytona International Speedway | February 15, 2012
NEMCO Motorsports announced today that Bill Elliott, past Sprint Cup Champion and Daytona 500 winner, will pilot the #97 Toyota for the Daytona 500 to be held at the Daytona International Speedway on Sunday February 26, 2012.
This synergy will bring Front Row Joe, Joe Nemechek and Million Dollar Bill, Bill Elliott together as a powerful pair to kickoff the 2012 NASCAR season at the 54th running of the Daytona 500.
“I am really excited to be racing with NEMCO Motorsports and Joe Nemechek, who has been a friend and respected competitor through the years,” said Bill Elliott, noted NASCAR driver. “This will be a great way to start off the 2012 NASCAR season in Daytona.”
Elliott’s dedication to the sport of racing for nearly three decades has endeared him to fans and earned him the additional nickname of Awesome Bill from Dawsonville (GA). Since 1976, Elliott has participated in close to 750 races, achieved 44 wins and collected 55 career poles. With all of his incredible success, he still remains humble and continues to bring positive contributions to the sport.
Hard work and a passion for the art of racing turned an eager young driver from a small Georgia town into a NASCAR Sprint Cup champion. But, it was the strength and support of his family that first launched Bill Elliott into racing. George Elliott, the family patriarch, started bringing his three boys, Ernie, Dan and Bill, to the racetrack. The whole family was passionate about racing and it wasn't long before the Elliott boys were behind the wheel.
This family affair is very similar to the journey of the Nemechek family where Joe’s parents, Martha and Papa Joe supported Joe and his brother John in their wide interests and successful efforts at a variety of motorsports which ultimately led them both to NASCAR with a similar family business. Both Nemechek and Elliott have sons who are up and coming drivers: John Hunter Nemechek and Chase Elliott. These boys even faced off in this year’s SpeedFest at the Watermelon Capital Speedway in Cordele, GA.
“This is a great and fun moment in racing for us at NEMCO Motorsports,” said Joe Nemechek. “We believe the talent and skill of Bill will steer the 97 car to a great showing for us and I am excited to be racing right along with him, this time on the same team.”
About Bill Elliott
Racing legend Bill Elliott has built one of the most distinguished records in NASCAR Cup history. Throughout his career he has radiated a modest and friendly personality that has endeared him to race fans of all ages. From cutting up car bodies in the early days to winning NASCAR's first million dollar bonus, Bill Elliott has seen and done it all. Though quiet and unpretentious, this NASCAR Cup champion has been dazzling fans with his racing ability for an amazing three decades.

Nemechek has the Fastest Toyota in Daytona 500 Qualifying
Daytona International Speedway | February 13, 2011
Joe Nemechek, sponsored by AM FM Energy, ran the fastest qualifying lap of all Toyotas attempting to qualify for the Daytona 500. Of the 16
Toyotas that attempted to qualify, Joe's lap of 48.854 seconds beat the next closest Toyota by 0.054 seconds.
"I’ve got to thank all of my guys on this team. Philippe Lopez, my crew chief, did an awesome job," explained Nemechek. "We got a new sponsor onboard with AM FM Energy.com. You should check it out. We’ve got all kinds of great products on there. It’s just great to be back here at Daytona. We struggled yesterday and didn’t really know what was wrong with our car, and we made a lot of adjustments last night and this morning. I never thought it would run that fast. You’ve got to get what you can get during qualifying. The guys tuned the motor up -- Triad, thank you very much. It was a good lap."

Conway, NEMCO Team for Speedweeks
Charlotte, N.C. | January 24, 2011
Kevin Conway, the 2010 Sprint Cup Series rookie of the year, and ExtenZe Racing announced Monday on Sirius XM Radio's The Morning Drive that they have teamed with owner/driver Joe Nemechek and NEMCO Motorsports to kick off the 2011 season.
Conway will be behind the wheel of the No. 97 ExtenZe Racing Toyota Camry during Speedweeks at Daytona International Speedway. He will compete in the Budweiser Shootout and the Gatorade Duel, where he will attempt to make the 43 car-field for the 53rd running of the Daytona 500.
"Getting to run in the Bud Shootout and attempt to make the Daytona 500 has been a lifelong dream of mine and I am pleased to get this opportunity to do so with Nemco Motorsports," Conway said. "ExtenZe and I initially worked with Joe back in 2009 running a few races in the Nationwide Series and we are excited to get back to where it all started. We worked well together in the Nationwide Series and look forward to building upon that success at Daytona Speedweeks this year and hopefully beyond."
Conway, a native of Lynchburg, Va., became the first driver to capture top rookie honors in every race in which he competed while setting a record of 29 rookie of the race awards. His best finish of the season was 14th in the July race at Daytona that gave Front Row Motorsports its best finish since the team's inception in 2005.
"NEMCO Motorsports is happy to make this announcement and we are looking forward to kicking the 2011 season off with Kevin Conway and ExtenZe Racing," Nemechek said. "We first worked with them in 2009 running in the Nationwide Series for five races and are pleased to be realigning ourselves with NASCAR's rookie of the year and ExtenZe again hoping for even better success this season.
"After Daytona we hope to be able to work out some further details to add some additional races with Conway."
